Job Description
|
The Controller is responsible for all aspects of the mortgage companys accounting and financial functions, implementation and adherence to internal and financial controls to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and corporate requirements. The successful candidate will be hands-on, detail oriented and will possess strong overall management skills to interact with all areas of discipline and all areas of management.
Develop, analyze and interpret key financial information to evaluate operating results in terms of profitability and performance against projections Manage accounting functions including reporting of new loan originations, monthly close, preparation of financial statements and reports comprising of multiple locations, accounts payable and cost allocations Ensure adherence to generally accepted accounting principles Evaluate and maintain effective internal controls resulting in efficient work flow in the organization Prepare reports that summarize historical and forecast business activities in areas of financial position, earnings, and cash flow of the Companys operations. Responsible to manage external audits and regulatory reporting requirements. Assist management with special projects as required and assigned Perform other related duties as required and assigned Financial Statement Preparation Cash Analysis and Reporting General Ledger Maintenance of Journal Entries Analyzing Numerical Data and Trends Collecting, Analyzing and Consolidating Financial Data Collaborating with Management Team on a regular basis Adhering to requirements of local, state and federal legislations Conduct routine audits Ensure proper internal controls are in place and functioning as intended Manage an accounting staff and develop team members Job Requirements Minimum of 5 years of accounting/managerial experience with a minimum of 2 years in the mortgage banking industry Must have CPA Proficient in Microsoft Office, all versions of QuickBooks and Enterprise a plus Strong knowledge of general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, taxes, and mortgage banking industry Strong leadership skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work well with internal and external customers Must be self-disciplined Ability to analyze complex numerical data reports Must possess strong analytical and problem solving skills Ability to make quick, accurate decisions with sound judgment Ability to multi-task Education Must have CPA
