AS400 Personnel has been retained by a major client to locate them a Sr. Network Analyst - DBA Contractor for a three month+ contract to join their ever-expanding IT Department in Scenic Montana. The client is looking for someone that can hit the ground running, has a strong DBA background, ability to come in and analyze their current systems and projects, execute and implement. This is not an architect position. You should have a minimum of 3-5 years database administrator experience AND must have SQL 2008 experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES: - Understands standard network topologies and design and their relationship to interconnected SQL Servers.
- Analyze and implement project plans for current projects including evaluating a 2008 upgrade and supporting a Timing and Optimization project.
- Evaluate the data structure needs and recommend solutions that provide a strategic direction compiling best practices and new technologies.
- Administer and support an enterprise-wide distribution of SQL Servers.
- Support company initiatives for promoting and maintaining database systems.
- Provide automation of system administration functions in the following scenarios:
Create DTS packages, create Stored Procedures, utility scripts for automating routine functions, create SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages. - Performing database backups and restores, collect and review performance and security reports.
- Understand and assist in guiding the definition of corporate standards, policies, and network administration ethics.
REQUIREMENTS: - Expert knowledge in managing SQL Server (2000, 2005, and 2008) in a multi-server environment. This includes 100's of databases on both physical and virtual platforms (SSIS and SSRS). This position will coordinate the daily database administration functions and facilitate performance optimization and database management tools.
- Demonstrates thorough knowledge in the following SQL functions:
Transact SQL, DTS, Stored Procedures, Security, Backup and Recovery this may include replication, mirroring, clustering, and log shipping, Microsoft: SSQL, SSIS required. SSAS beneficial, but not required, Microsoft SQL Server Client Tools. - Experience with Enterprise Manager (SQL 2000), Enterprise Studio (SQL 2005), Query Analyzer, ArcSDE, NetApp.
- SQL Server 2008 required, minimum of 6 months 2008 DBA experience with exposure to the uniqueness of 2008 architecture and conversions.
- This individual will support, guide, and partner with the DBA team on the strategic direction for new projects integrating best practices and new technologies, including DBA team mentoring and development.
- Experience in providing a comprehensive Disaster Recovery Plan and High Availability Solutions including the analytical ability and experience with TSQL, log shipping, mirroring, replication, and clustering.
- Practical experience in database monitoring and daily maintenance activities including refreshes, centralizing, backup jobs, and archiving data.
- Additionally, will assist in the deployment of building a strong process for refreshing our development environments for both Test and Dev.
- Experience in database optimization preferred, experience in utilizing Windows security is preferred.
Contract will pay $70/HR for a 3+ month duration. This is truly a magical area where the highest structures are still trees and wildlife still outnumbers the residents.
