Total Compensation: $100K+
The Information Technology Department, located in Phoenix,Arizona, Walnut Creek, California and Salt Lake City, Utah, has an opening for a Senior DB2 z/OS Systems Programmer. This position can be located in any of these three locations.
Qualifications: The following are preferred or desired unless specifically stated:
* Demonstrated success through a minimum of 10 years relative experience and a minimum of 8 years experience with mainframe-based DB2, MVS/zOS systems programming and with TSO/ISPF and IBM job control language (JCL).
* Thorough knowledge of mainframe computing in a DB2 MVS/zOS environment, including DB2 internals and strong skills in SMP/E, IBM DB2 utilities, and CA-Utilities for DB2.
* Extensive experience as a zOS systems programmer, with demonstrated knowledge of the SMPe process.
* Thorough knowledge of TSO, JCL, and standard utility programs; knowledge of capability and limitations of data processing hardware; knowledge of PC software for word processing and spreadsheet analysis.
* DB2 Datasharing in a parallel Sysplex environment experience is required
* Strong ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret organizational and procedural problems and suggest alterations in existing systems; ability to prepare detailed reports and to present factual data clearly and concisely in both oral and written form.
* Should have the ability to plan and coordinate the work of others, communicate effectively in oral and written form, and establish/maintain effective working relationships.
* Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in information technology, computer science, or a closely related field and three years of experience in operations analysis and design, systems programming, or a closely related field.
* Results oriented, willing to take responsibility and accept accountability for action
* Comfortable with ambiguity as needs change on a regular basis with a high degree of initiative and sense of urgency
* Excellent oral and written skills with the ability to interact with senior management, technical subject matter experts, and business customers are essential in this role
* Ability to work on multiple, simultaneous initiatives and projects
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Support the following products on the Mainframe environment. Responsibility would include the daily operation, capacity planning and maintenance and upgrades.
o DB2 on Zos
o QMF
o CA Products for DB2 for example* Detector* Sub system analyzer* Log analyzer* RC/migratory* RC/secure* Thread terminator* Fast unload* InfoSess* CA Repository
o DB attach
o Query Handler
o Web Sphere MQ on Zos
o CICS
* Work with business representatives, IT Management and IT development and support teams to ensure on time, on budget, quality delivery of technical solutions that support the strategic direction of the business and IT.
* Work with a distributed team with specialized skillsets to maintain the stability of the mainframe platform running in multiple datacenters.
