Summary Description:
The Network/Telecomm IT Director is responsible for AS's global voice and data network life-cycle activities and communications technologies. The staff within this job family will focus on:
* Providing leadership for establishing current and long range objectives, plans and policies for Availability Service global telecommunications strategy and technologies.
* Providing leadership for establishing a consistent and progressive strategy and architecture for Local-Area-Network (LAN) and Wide-Area-Network (WAN) voice and data networks to permit timely exploitation of new developments in telecommunications.
* Providing leadership for technology strategic planning and the development and implementation of new communications technology initiatives to enhance the productivity and cost efficiency of the global business. Work with business management on priority setting and solutions for long term problems.
* Consistently challenging/testing the effectiveness of the design of network strategy, architecture and facilities to reduce costs where possible, without compromise to effectiveness.
* Developing and managing technology budgets, allocate resources and coordinate schedules for technology implementations.
* Provide guidance and assistance to centrally managing network operations such that availability and performance of network services are kept at the highest possible levels commensurate with the desired service and funding levels.
The IT Director will manage Managers and direct reports in four specialties: Voice Communications (IP-Telephony, IP-Contact Center, Collaboration), Data Communications (Wide-Area-Networks, Wired/Wireless Local-Area-Networks), Extranet Networks (Firewalls, Intrusion Detection/Prevention, VPNs), Mobility and Virtual/Home Services.
Education Requirements
* BA/BS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, or related technical field, or equiv work experience with a minimum educational requirement of a H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent

Job Requirements:
* 10-12 years IT experience in multiple IT roles with 6+ years experience in voice and/or data networking
* Knowledge and experience in Unified Communications technologies (systems, deployments, operations)
* Knowledge and experience in Contact-Center technologies (systems, deployments and operations)
* Knowledge and experience in WAN transports and suppliers (AT&T, VzB, etc.)
* Knowledge and experience in Cisco and/or Juniper WAN and LAN technologies
* Knowledge and experience in Traffic Management (QoS, CoS, Shaping, Compression, etc.)
* Knowledge and experience in VoIP on LAN, WAN and wireless transports/networks
* Knowledge of Client, Server and Application interactions with local and wide-area networks
* Understand network security concepts
* Demonstrated team building skills
* Communication skills (verbal and written)
Work Environment:
* Individuals in these roles will work closely with the Product/Project/Program Managers, Relationship Managers, customers, operations and the development/deployment teams. They will be the key spokesperson for all programs and issues they are managing. These associates will interface with multiple business functions and organizations, as well as multiple specialists and vendors, in defining, producing, operationalizing and managing successful business solution development and delivery.
* The challenges presented to people in these roles include: ensuring that projects meet defined scope, time, cost and quality constraints; balancing a variety of stakeholder needs and expectations; establishing and maintaining ongoing communication; establishing ownership of enterprise-wide issues; organizing and coordinating cross-functional resources; negotiating conflict resolution that maintains stakeholders' objectives; managing the implementation of global business solutions; dealing with organizational influences, ambiguity and continuous change.
