Job Description: Johnson Service Group Inc. an Atlanta based Technical staffing firm, has a contract to direct position available.
Sr. Controls Engineer
JOB SUMMARY: Performs a variety of functions associated with the design, implementation and integration of system controls pertaining to manufacturing and process equipment automation. Uses diverse controls engineering skills and applies that knowledge and experience to design, develop and acquire automation systems leading to the introduction of new products. Define and implement applications or modifications of existing technologies and products for systems development and its introduction for use in volume manufacturing. Evaluates processing requirements and manages the implementation of projects to meet revenue, capacity plan, cost and quality goals. Spearhead and support value engineering projects to increase production efficiency and capacity, reduce cost, improve quality, and improve equipment reliability and uptime.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Researches, designs, develops and supervises the execution, implementation and documentation of all electronic and controls pertaining to production equipment in the manufacturing area, focusing on the system controls design elements of the system.
Determines, in conjunction with other manufacturing engineering resources, product design attributes in design phase and/or product modifications in manufacturing phase to facilitate manufacturing of the product.
Guides, consults and performs day to day problem solving and debugging in collaboration with other department personnel.
Develops or recommends facilities, system controls platform, equipment, tools and resources necessary for completion of design engineering work, or manufacture of products.
Responsible for providing timely and appropriate electrical, system controls, as well as, mechanical design engineering services to designated product teams in manufacturing, R&D, and other areas of the organization.
Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, controls hardware/software, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
Recommends, develops and manages projects related to the effective use of design engineering resources.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work.
Assist in maintaining an overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) of 85% or higher on all manufacturing and process equipment.
Guide, consult and perform on-going problem solving, root cause analysis, and process refinements in collaboration with internal personnel and suppliers.
Ensure all tasks are performed in accordance with GPM, ISO, FDA, and regulatory guidelines.
Train employees on the operation of new and existing equipment.
Support ISO, FDA, regulatory, and quality systems requirements and implementations.
Support continuous improvements in product quality.
Work with validation engineers in the development, approval, and execution of validation protocols.
Provide engineering & technical support for all existing and new process equipment and systems.
Promote a safe work environment.
Perform other duties as required by manager
Develop process, equipment, and user requirement specifications and determine test methods for specification compliance.
Develop methods for handling and processing of materials to comply with design, manufacturing, regulatory, and safety requirements.
Support the assembly, installation, testing, validation of new equipment and process.
Spearhead and support value engineering projects to increase production efficiency and capacity, reduce cost, improve quality, and improve equipment reliability and uptime.Establish process, equipment , standard operating procedures (SOPs).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in engineering discipline (mechanical, electrical, industrial, manufacturing) from a four year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
GMP and ISO 9000 experience
