SALES DEVELOPMENT MANAGER - NEW YORK, NEW YORKThe Disney Interactive Media Group (DIMG) is responsible for global creation and delivery of Disney-branded entertainment and lifestyle content across all interactive media platforms including PCs, mobile phones and video game consoles. The division operates two content creation units, Disney Interactive Studios and Disney Online, which work together to take advantage of platform-specific expertise to create a line of connected, multi-platform entertainment experiences. Disney Interactive Studios self publishes and distributes a broad portfolio of video games and interactive entertainment for handheld, mobile and console platforms globally. Disney Online produces the No. 1 kids entertainment and family community Web site, Disney.com as well as the Disney Family Network, Disney mobile entertainment and an industry leading suite of online virtual worlds for kids and families. DIMG also provides interactive technology strategy, solutions and execution for The Walt Disney Company.

OVERVIEW

The Disney Online Mom and Family Portfolio team is responsible for developing and supporting a collection of sites targeted to Moms. The Sales Development staff works closely across several multi-disciplinary teams, including design, engineering, editorial, marketing, legal, revenue operations and sales, to develop ad opportunities and new features on FamilyFun.com, Family.com, BabyZone.com, Kaboose.com, iParenting and several other mom-targeted sites. The Sales Development Manager is a senior level, multi-dimensional role with pre-sales responsibilities ranging from developing existing and custom opportunities to communicating and disseminating sponsorship opportunities to the national sales force.

RESPONSIBILITES



  • Act as liaison between marketing/editorial teams and internal sales team



  • Gather and organize information from editorial and marketing which will lead to the creation of new and on-going promotional and sales opportunities. Understand the needs of sales to help influence site initiatives and offer opportunities that will accommodate both site and sales objectives.



  • Work with Sales Promotions and Revenue Operations to discuss various elements of campaigns including inventory projections, ad configuration, and other features specific to the initiative.



  • Understands the social media network and offers ideas and creative suggestions on how to maximize viral applications.



  • Approve sales proposals prior to them going to the client as they pertain to bus rules and editorial guidelines.



  • Create business rules of ad supported content on the Disney Online Mom and Family Portfolio of sites



  • Obtain approvals from legal, editorial, marketing and tech for launching new opportunities.



  • Interface regularly with engineering, design, editorial, marketing, revenue operations, promotions and sales groups.



  • Balance the priorities of a diverse group of stakeholders.

    REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS



  • Minimum of 5+ years marketing/strategy/media/consulting experience



  • 2-3 years in an online setting preferred



  • Thinks creatively while understanding restraints and business guidelines with which to operate. Knows how to maximize existing content as a first resort. Able to offer sponsorship suggestions during pre-sale phase and communicate with editorial/marketing regarding potential opportunities.



  • Proven track record in developing successful advertising, marketing or promotional campaigns



  • Sharp business sense, resourceful, innovative and responsive to change



  • Managerial skills preferred (managing others and projects)



  • Analytical, quantitative and financial analysis skills a plus



  • Bachelor degree required in a marketing, business, communications or related field

    SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED:



  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including negotiation and presentation skills



  • Proven ability to manage multiple internal client and external customer relationships and manage through conflict, driving groups to collective business decisions



  • A passion for creativity; the creative drive to develop rich, dynamic, and exceptionally effective advertising strategies



  • Ability to operate effectively in a highly fluid team-oriented and collaborative environment.



  • Ability to lead and motivate teams including leading groups from multiple and diverse disciplines.



  • Experience working with nation-wide clients; business development and relationship management skills are essential



  • Manage several projects concurrently, accustomed to working in an environment where quick turnaround times are requested and required



  • Proven skills in creativity, problem-solving, follow-through, attention to detail, and priority setting



  • Analytical, quantitative and financial analysis skills a plus



  • Excellent computer skills – Highly proficient with MS Powerpoint, Word, and Excel
